Stormwater Management: TCNJ Townhouses South
Project Description
This project is designed to alleviate the current ponding of water located in The College of New Jersey's Townhouses South. The main area of concern is in the buildings crawlspaces where moisture is accumulating due to an excess of water in the surrounding soils. The moisture in these crawlspaces increases the potential presence for mold and termites in the building.
For this project, our group conducted both soil and hydrologic analyses of the Townhouses South watershed. After completing Senior Project I, our analysis indicated that the problem was due to the infiltration of the storm water into the surrounding grounds. In Senior Project II, we will further develop our designs for a roof water collection system, pervious pavement design, sump pumps, and a swale design. Ultimately, we will run a cost analysis on these designs and recommend the solution we see best fit to mitigate the problem.
